Sammy wins the Gold Award for Colour at the Wella Professionals Trend Vision Award UK & Ireland Final 2011
Sammantha Galloway from McIntyres in Dundee has been awarded one of the highest colour accolades in the UK winning the Gold Award in the COLOUR Category on Monday 26th September at the Wella Professionals Trend Vision Award UK & Ireland Final 2011 – one of the world’s most prestigious annual hairdressing competitions.
Hundreds came to watch and be a part of this magnificent event hosted by TV personality Alex Zane with a special live performance from chart toppers, Scouting for Girls. Sammy won over the judges with her interpretation of Passionista with her model Nicola Prosser a 19 year old University of Dundee student one of four fashion-led hair trends as created by Wella Professionals.
Sammy competed against hundreds of colourists from across the UK & Ireland at the Regional Heats earlier this year securing her position at the UK & Ireland Final, this year held at the prestigious Roundhouse in London’s Camden. The UK & Ireland Final saw her compete against 42 of the country’s most talented hairdressers to take home the Wella Professionals Trend Vision Award 2011 in the COLOUR category.
The next step for Sammy is to take her win international as she represents their country at the Wella Professionals International Trend Vision Award 2011 in New York, USA on 30th October, joining colourists from across the globe to battle for the ultimate title.
P&G Salon Professional Managing Director, UK & Ireland, Daniel Minney said of the event: “The Trend Vision Award continues to evolve and push the boundaries of hairdressing talent around the world. It is inspiring to see so much passion and creativity in one room and every individual who has reached the final should be very proud of their achievements. On behalf of Wella Professionals, I would like to wish the Gold Winners the best of luck as they make their mark at the International Final in New York.”
The Wella Professionals Trend Vision Award is now in its 9th year. The event is organised by the best in the business as a way of encouraging creativity and promoting talent specifically in the colour sector of hairdressing.
Colourists are briefed with 4 different trends in which they must use their favourite to interpret a look that reflects this trend. This year the trend collection consisted of Lumina, Passionista, Glamazon and Polaris, giving the colourists a real chance to interpret the trend in their own way and express their creativity.
Kay McIntyre owner of McIntyres and current ‘Scottish Hairdresser of the Year’ added ‘This is absolutely fantastic, I’m so thrilled for Sammy , she deserves this so much and we all wish her well in New York’
