Dundee Hairdressers Natasha Cameron and Sophie Kinloch from McIntyres salons win Wella Trend Vision Awards 2019 at the Scottish Region Finals last night at the Glasgow, Hilton.
‘Colour Artist of The Year and ‘Creative Artist of the Year’ were the respective categories, both had to present their models on the catwalk and also face the judges privately to narrate their looks, describe their skills and techniques used in their trend interpretation.
COLOR ARTIST OF THE YEAR Showcase a trend-led and beautiful colour focused look. Your creation should be wearable and reflect salon relevant hair. CREATIVE ARTIST OF THE YEAR Express your creative vision by styling an on-trend cut and finish, with an editorial catwalk feel.
Both Natasha and Sophie now go through to the UK & Ireland Finals held at the iconic Roundhouse venue in London’s Camden where they compete against the best in Great Britain.
McIntyres are the only representatives this year from the Tayside Region and have a very strong heritage in the competition winning the UK Gold Colour Award and have successfully reached the UK finals more than any other salon in their region, often in multiple categories.
Wella Trend Vision is seen as one of the most inspirational creative professional hairdressing awards to win and is open to salons throughout the UK. Kay McIntyre and Sammy Wallace both encourage the team at McIntyres, they judge the other regional heats and final across the UK and both agree ‘It really is an exciting event to be part of and the standard is really high, we are a passionate team and we love being part of the event and reaching the finals gives everyone a lift’
Kay adds ‘Our clients and the Dundee creative community are always really supportive and get behind us, having won so many awards and educated across the UK it’s another great example of how fortunes have changed in our Unesco City and its great to feel we are continuing to fly the flag for Dundee hairdressing’.
