McIntyres were asked to assist the Dundee Schools Arts Festival 2011. Under the guidance of Kay McIntyre and Adelle Wilson the Dundee Schools Rock band were styled in advance of their performance and the first annual Schools’ concert at the Caird Hall on Tuesday 8th March 2011. Kay and Adelle worked alongside Duncan of Jordanstone Design student Jenni Bangs in styling the young performers in preparation of the ‘big night’
The band which comprises of two singers and ten musicians from across Dundee’s nine secondary schools, came together under the tutelage of teachers Ricky Linn and Craig Sinclair.Kenny Christie who has choreographed projects for McIntyres including The Face of 2010 and Indulgence Event knew the band needed something that litte bit extra special to prepare them for their performance. “We wanted to give them as broad an experience of the music industry as possible – what it can be like to be in a band” explained Kenny an Education Support Officer with the Education Department. “In bands, an identity and style are very important contributing factors and I knew that having worked with Kay and the staff of McIntyres in the past that they could really add something to the young people’s performances.” Kay agreed that it was important that the young people looked and felt good about themselves and this would help them feel more confident about their own performances taking place in front of an expected audience of around 600 people.
Kay added “Kenny is great to work with, he gives so much of his time for these kind of events, so were delighted to get involved, I’d also like to thank the team for all their efforts”
McIntyres hairdressers Creative Director Sammy Galloway and Perth Road Senior Stylist Lisa Findlay attended the event and styled the hair for the band. I’m sure Dundee Rock band enjoyed the event and gained valuable experience
