London Heathrow was the setting for a fashion shoot involving model and artist Sophie Ellis Bexter for the publication Jump Magazine. Kay McIntyre three times British Hairdressing award finalist and Scottish hairdresser of the year art directed the shoot and also styled the singer/songwriter hair in a tongue and cheek shoot involving a supermodels arrival and departure at the busy London airport. Kay has art directed many shoots for various publications and says’ its a welcome break when we do fun shoots that involve you having to improvise on the day or simply go with the flow’
Hairdressers Journal International is a leading UK weekly publication and hair industry magazine. Its cover image is always a coveted destination for the great and the good in the world of hairdressing and McIntyres shot to glory with their front cover which was a local client of the Perth Road salon, Claire McGoldrick from Dundee. Hair was left curly,loose and natural and had a fashion, contemporary feel and attitude that reflected the time which was why the shot was chosen.
McIntyres, Dundee have expanded their Union Street Salon adding a new Hair Colour Training Academy, 10 additional hair styling & colouring positions with separate colour backwash area, private consultation area and dedicated colour bar. The Union Street salon has won several top design awards including RIAS Commendation,Dundee by Design and British Civic Trust commendation as well as a special award by the Dundee City Council. The Salon is convienyantly located opposite Dundee Train Station ,MalMaison Hotel and V&A close to Dundee’s Discovery point.

McIntyres Union Street Salon has won two architectural awards. The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland A Regeneration commendation award for their investment in the Dundee City Centre salon and is one of the most coveted awards the judges felt that the salon had ‘Brought new vitality to the area’ helping the Waterfrontbdevelopment with The V&A and Malmaison and that the design both internally and externally and the consideration shown for the clientele was highly impressive. In addition McIntyres won the Dundee by Design accolade for Best Environment Design which covers architecture design and landscape both are firsts for the hairdressing industry

The Princes Trust Scotland Clay Pigeon Shoot at Auchterhouse Country Sports, Angus Scotland was a huge success and despite many challenges this year raised an amazing £135,000 for the charity

Styling the hair of the professional cat walk models McIntyre’s also did a master class in hairdressing, featuring ‘Trade Secrets’ based around the new GHD hair styler, with volunteers from the audience encouraged to join in
