After extensive refurbishment and expansion the salon now has 26 styling positions and 7 backwash areas with dedicated colour bar. McIntyres style Clash Magazine launch edition fashion shoot

Clash Magazine invited Dundee salon hairdressing group McIntyres to art direct and style the hair for its fashion shoot in London. Three times British Hair Award finalist and twice Scottish hairdresser of the year Kay McIntyre kept the hairstyles based on the music theme ‘Northern Soul’ loose and cool. Clash Magazine were voted ‘Magazine of the year’ at the PPA awards and its distributed worldwide.
Kay said ‘ The shoot was great fun and a welcome break from the hair and beauty looks we normally create, it’s a great magazine , popular with salon clients and stylists’

ghd confirms faith in salons by denying Boots rumour

GHD have denied any intention to supply high street retailer Boots with ghd’s, instead, confirming their allegiance to the professional hair salon network. GHD is the UK’s market leading hair straightener and now their styler is as popular as ever and faces huge demands as desperate attempts by high street retailers to obtain the highly acclaimed ghd styler product

A feature on the Marketing Magazine’s website which claimed the brand were looking to adopt a roll-out retail strategy and that they had declined to comment. Hair industry and trade publication Hairdressers Journal International spoke to ghd global brand director Guy Longworth who claimed ‘We have never sold to Boots and do not have any plans to do so’

London Heathrow was the setting for a fashion shoot involving model and artist Sophie Ellis Bexter for the publication Jump Magazine. Kay McIntyre three times British Hairdressing award finalist and Scottish hairdresser of the year art directed the shoot and also styled the singer/songwriter hair in a tongue and cheek shoot involving a supermodels arrival and departure at the busy London airport. Kay has art directed many shoots for various publications and says’ its a welcome break when we do fun shoots that involve you having to improvise on the day or simply go with the flow’

Its cover image is always a coveted destination for the great and the good in the world of hairdressing and McIntyres shot to glory with their front cover which was a local client of the Perth Road salon, Claire McGoldrick from Dundee. Hair was left curly,loose and natural and had a fashion, contemporary feel and attitude that reflected the time which was why the shot was chosen.

McIntyres, Dundee have expanded their Union Street Salon adding a new Hair Colour Training Academy, 10 additional hair styling & colouring positions with separate colour backwash area, private consultation area and dedicated colour bar. McIntyres Union Street Salon has won two architectural awards. The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland A Regeneration commendation award for their investment in the Dundee City Centre salon and is one of the most coveted awards the judges felt that the salon had ‘Brought new vitality to the area’ helping the Waterfrontbdevelopment with The V&A and Malmaison and that the design both internally and externally and the consideration shown for the clientele was highly impressive. In addition McIntyres won the Dundee by Design accolade for Best Environment Design which covers architecture design and landscape both are firsts for the hairdressing industry
